ARFF fleets combine major foam tenders, which carry the bulk of the water and foam, with lighter rapid intervention vehicles that reach the scene first. Roof and bumper turrets let crews attack a fire without leaving the cab. ICAO recommends at least one vehicle for categories 1–5, two for categories 6–7 and three for categories 8–10.
